Chief Information Officer - Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital
Toronto, ON
Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is Canada’s largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital and an internationally recognized leader in childhood disability care, research, and education. They deliver a unique blend of inpatient and outpatient services to over 7,500 children and youth annually, supporting those living with disability, medical complexity, illness, and injury. As an academic health science centre fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, Holland Bloorview brings together clinical excellence, cutting-edge research, and exceptional education to create a world of possibility for children, youth, and families.
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Performance, Digital Health Innovation and Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing Holland Bloorview’s technology and data strategic priorities. With a strong foundation already in place and a seven-year strategic plan underway, the CIO will guide the hospital through the next phase of innovation – leveraging AI, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies to enhance system integration, support precision health, and improve care delivery. This is a highly visible leadership role, with regular engagement at the executive table, the Board of Trustees and their sub-committees, the Medical Advisory Committee, and the Bloorview Research Institute (BRI) offering the opportunity to influence not only internal transformation but also Holland Bloorview’s position as a sector leader in digital health innovation.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished technology and data leader with experience in healthcare or a similarly complex related sector. They bring a track record of translating digital and data strategies into measurable improvements in care, operations, and user experience. With a deep understanding of how digital infrastructure, real-time data, and emerging technologies such as AI and precision health can transform pediatric rehabilitation, the successful candidate will be a key enabler of Holland Bloorview’s Learning Health System and its broader 2030 strategic plan. Collaborative and solutions-oriented, the CIO will balance innovation with risk management – offering strategic guidance on what’s possible while safeguarding patient safety, privacy, and system integrity. They will be adept at aligning digital initiatives with organizational values, particularly Holland Bloorview’s commitments to equity, inclusion, and co-designed care. As a confident and secure leader, the CIO will coach and mentor a high-performing team, foster a culture of learning and innovation, and build leadership and succession capacity within the portfolio. Comfortable engaging at all levels of the organization, they will communicate complex ideas with clarity – whether presenting to the Board or partnering with frontline clinicians, researchers, educators, and family leaders.
